What this site collects
The contact form. Your name, email address and message. It is delivered by FormSubmit, a third-party form service, to our inbox — the form does not write to a database we run.
If you call (209) 701-1172. That line is answered by an automated assistant, and the call is recorded. The greeting is configured to say both of those things before you speak. Treat the call as recorded from the moment it connects.
Two systems hold call content, on two different schedules. At Retell AI, the recording and transcript are set to 90 days. If the assistant cannot be reached the call falls through to voicemail, and that path is different: the recording, its transcript and your number stay in our Twilio account, and a copy is written to our calendar and inbox so we see the message. Those copies have no automatic expiry. They stay until we delete them by hand, and we will delete them if you ask.
Hosting. The site runs on Vercel, which processes standard request data such as IP address and request logs in order to serve pages.
Analytics. We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which collect aggregate usage and performance data — page views, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not shared with advertisers.
Advertising. We do not run advertising trackers.
Why
To answer you, to act on a call you place to our published number, and to keep the site running and secure. Nothing else.
Who it goes to
Only the vendors that make those things work, acting on our behalf: FormSubmit (form delivery), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Retell AI and Twilio (the phone line). We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Call recordings and transcripts at Retell AI: 90 days. The voicemail copies in Twilio, our calendar and our inbox have no automatic expiry and are deleted on request. Form submissions: kept in our email while the enquiry is active and for our business records afterwards. Ask us to delete yours and we will.
FormSubmit keeps its own copy of a submission for 30 days, per its published documentation. We use it as a free service with no account, so there is no contract setting that period and no way for us to delete that copy early. Request logs and analytics data are kept for as long as Vercel keeps them — we have not set a separate period and are not going to state one we have not measured.
Your rights
Ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it — email 1@derekfairfield.com and we will action it. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Cookies, cross-site tracking, and Do Not Track
Cookies. This site sets none, and neither analytics product sets one here. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Do other parties track you across other websites through this site? No. The only external script this site is permitted to load is Vercel’s analytics script — the site’s content security policy blocks every other source — and there are no advertising or social tracking tags on any page. You can verify that from the response headers without taking our word for it.
Do we change anything when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal? No. We have built nothing to act on those signals, and we would rather say so than claim to honour one. They exist to stop cross-site tracking, and we do not do any. If that changes, this section changes first.
The code for Google Ads conversion tracking is in this site, switched off. It stays inert until a Google Ads ID is set in our hosting configuration. Switched on, it would set cookies and report form submissions to Google, and the two answers above would stop being true. The rule we hold ourselves to: this page is updated, with a new effective date, before that tag is ever enabled — not after.
A note on California law
This page exists because California’s Online Privacy Protection Act asks any commercial website collecting personal information from Californians to post a privacy policy, whatever the size of the business. That is us.
The CCPA is a different law, with size thresholds this company is nowhere near. It is therefore not a “business” under that statute, and we are not going to publish a rights section implying otherwise. The practical answer is the same either way: email us and ask, and we will do it.
Children
This site is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes first — before the change goes live, not after. The effective date above tells you when it last did.
